Huddersfield Town fans will again hit the streets to help keep Yorkshire’s Air Ambulance flying.

The third Walk for Pounds event is planned for October.

In the last two seasons supporters have walked from Huddersfield to Gigg Lane, Bury, and Oakwell, Barnsley, before matches to raise money for the club’s Keep It Up campaign.

This season the walk is a little different.

Those taking part will be bused to Leeds-Bradford Airport – the Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s base – and then walk the 19 miles back to the John Smith’s Stadium.

The walk will take place ahead of the Watford game on Saturday, October 5.

Keep It Up splits funds between the air ambulance and Town’s Academy.

Since its launch in 2009, £964,000 has been raised with Town confident the magic £1m barrier will be smashed this season.

Those completing this year’s walk will do a lap of honour around the stadium before kick-off.

Town chairman Dean Hoyle, who took part in last year’s Barnsley walk, said: “Walk for Pounds has become an annual event in the club calendar and one which has been very well supported by Town supporters, partners and staff over the last couple of seasons.

“It will be a great feeling for those who take part to walk into the stadium before the Watford game having completed the walk, and having raised much needed funds for the charity in the process.”

Yorkshire Air Ambulance director of fundraising Paul Gowland said he hoped many people would take part and added: “At the charity we appreciate every single Town supporter who has raised funds for the campaign over the last four seasons.

“We’re looking forward to kicking off the 2013/14 season with the third Walk for Pounds.”

The event entry fee is £10 per person which includes coach transport from Canalside to the airport, a pre-walk breakfast, a snack and refreshments on route as well as an ‘I completed the Walk’ T-shirt.
