M62 accident

It’s reported that there are now three lanes closed on the M62 Eastbound between junctions 26 (Chain Bar) and J27 (Birstall).

West Yorkshire Police tell us that it appears to be a damage only accident and no one has been hurt. Not surprisingly tailbacks are building so avoid if possible.

Serious injuries

We’ve had an update on the man injured in Slaithwaite.

He suffered serious chest injuries and was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary.

We’ve just had this from Watch Commander Matthew Green, of Slaithwaite Fire Station, who said: “He was badly pinned between the skip and the wheel and we needed to use spreading gear and hydraulic rams to free him.

“We worked alongside paramedics who were constantly assessing his condition and giving him pain relief. The rescue operation took around 30 minutes and he was in a lot of pain.”

More as soon as we have it.
