A couple from Lepton have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a cruise around the Mediterranean.

Wendy and Brian Inglesfield met at the Regent Ballroom on Bradford Road, Huddersfield, in 1959.

Their love blossomed and they married four years later at Paddock Church on October 12, 1963.

Wendy, 72, worked for Allen Priests Mill at Lockwood as a shorthand typist and wages clerk. Brian, 74, was an apprentice joiner in Lepton.

He later went into partnership and started a joinery company in the Old Blacksmith workshop at Lepton.

He retired aged 66 in 2005.

The couple have two children, Jane and Dawn.

They have lived in Lepton for nearly 50 years.

They say the secret of their marriage success is ‘love and laughter’.

They have eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Both have shared a life-long passion for dancing, with Jane pursuing tap dancing for a number of years.

Together they still regularly attend Rock ‘n Rolling at Waterloo Bowling Club on a Saturday night.

Brian plays the cornet in Skelmanthorpe Brass and Band and the trumpet in a dance band.

They celebrated their milestone occasion with family and friends with a meal out on their anniversary.
