Long delays westbound on the M62 today after an accident between Junction 22 and Junction 21

There are delays all the way back to Junction 24 on the first day back to work for many people.

There was a crash in the early hours of this morning and one person is now in hospital. The three vehicles involved have been recovered.

It has also resulted in delays on surrounding roads in Denshaw as motorists try to avoid the queues.

Traffic easing

Normal traffic conditions are not expected between junction 22 and 21 until 1.15pm and 1.30pm.

Congestion has cleared between junction 25 and 24.

The oil spillage has been cleared and traffic is running in all lanes.

Oil spill and crash on the M62

Two lanes are closed on the M62 westbound between junction 21 for Milnrow and junction 22 for Rishworth Moor. Congestion is going back to junction 24 for Ainley Top. There are delays of more than an hour.

There was a crash in the early hours of this morning and one person is now in hospital. The three vehicles involved have been recovered.

It had earlier been reported that the whole of the M62 westbound was shut until around 6.10am. One lane has now been reopened.

Then an oil spillage happened and the authorities are working to clear it.

A spokesman for GMP said:

We were called at 0.20am to junction 21 of the M62 Westbound to reports of a crash between a car and a truck. Then another car crashed into the vehicles.

The vehicles involved were a Toyota Corolla, a Volkswagen Passat and a truck.

One person has suffered serious, but not life threatening, injuries.
