I READ with interest the double-page spread of excellent photos and articles covering the Remembrance Day parades. I would like to add that no mention was made of the service held at Huddersfield’s principal memorial in Greenhead Park.
Representatives from many organisations laid wreaths on the memorial and it was very good to see the fire service represented by smartly turned out firemen – in shirt sleeve order!
A further contingent of the Huddersfield Army Veterans were present and I am sending a photograph taken after the service of two of the veterans talking to boys and girls from Huddersfield Grammar School. It was wonderful for these children to make the effort with their teachers to be present on a Sunday and quite moving to see them talking to the
Veterans: well done!
They were all a credit to the town.
