Members from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association teamed up with Colne Valley MP, Jason McCartney, to take part in a community litter pick in Marsden.

Ten AMYA members from Huddersfield and Spen Valley took part in the one hour lunchtime litter pick on August 9 as part of the MP’s volunteer week. They made Marsden Park and other public areas sparkle, with help from Donna Bellamy, Councillor for Colne Valley, and other residents from the village. AMYA members also discussed their volunteering and fundraising activities with Jason and how these form an integral part of their faith.

Following the successful collection of dozens of bags everyone present took time to reflect and remember the local war dead at the war memorial, which is situated within the park.

Local Youth leader for Huddersfield, Nadeem Ahmad, said: “As Muslims we are told that cleanliness is an integral part of our Faith. Giving up just one hour can make a huge difference.”
