MOVIE makers are being encouraged to submit their work as the first Holmfirth Film Festival looms.

Two film categories are open, ‘International, National and Northern Films’ and a short film contest dubbed Beyond the Summer Wine.

The short film contest is for films about the Holme Valley and can be in any category from drama or comedy to animation or silent movie.

All submissions should be on DVD and no more than 10 minutes long.

The deadline for entry for both categories is next Friday April 30 and the chosen work and winners’ entries will be shown during the festival.

The submissions address is: Holmfirth Film Festival Short Film Submissions, 2 Meal Hill Road, Holme, HD9 2Q (enclose a SAE if you want your film back).

The email address is: shortfilms@holmfirthfilmfestival.co.uk

The Holmfirth Film Festival will run from Saturday May 22 - 29 at venues across the region.

Highlights of the week include an evening with celebrated film critic Barry Norman, an evening with The Damned United author David Peace and a day celebrating the life of Huddersfield born Hollywood star James Mason.
