THERE is no such thing as a victimless crime and the shockwaves some offences cause can be immense.

Caroline Ashford’s crimes by abusing her position of trust in sandwich firm Shaw & Lisle to steal £60,000 were responsible for 60 people losing their jobs. As a result, some of them have also lost their homes and who knows what impact this has had on their health, marriages and family lives.

Ashford was deep in debt following the breakdown of her own marriage and stole the money to try to keep her lifestyle going, burying her head in the sand as she stole more and more money. The judge had no option but to jail her.

This is a sad story whichever way you look at it and there is no guarantee the business will survive.

But with the teamwork and determination so many people have already shown they may be able to start putting all this behind them and rebuild their devastated business.
