HE is not be the Special One – he is Andre Villas-Boas (and not a very naughty boy for all you Monty Python fans out there).

But the new Chelsea manager, pictured left, is setting himself some huge obstacles to overcome judging by his initial contact with the English media.

He faces two basic problems.

One – he is only 33, and his age seems to make him a little hard to take seriously for some people in the game.

Second – he has started from a defensive position of explaining why he is not former Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho.

You have to feel sorry for the former Porto manager (Andre not Jose) because he has to fight to try and gain the high ground when really, if it was a fair world he would have just started on a level playing field.

And in his first press conferences, he has worked hard (perhaps too hard) to distance himself from his former boss.

Sadly it has already led to one utterance that could be back to haunt him all too soon.

Almost in direct contrast to Mourinho’s ‘I love the players’ stance, Vilas-Boas proclaimed: “We want the players to triumph as people and as social role models, if they do that they will triumph out on the pitch as well.”

While I understand he is trying to make his mark, you have to feel that given he has a squad containing John Terry and Ashley Cole, he is going to end up being known as the ‘Naive One’.
