Huddersfield is to have a third Royal visitor in the space of just two months.

The Princess Royal will officially open the new underground tours at the National Coal Mining Museum.

It will mark the Museum’s 25th anniversary year.

Princess Anne, who will be at the Museum near Grange Moor tomorrow, follows the Duke of York and Princess Beatrice to the area.

The Duke and the Princess were here in May, with both visiting the University of Huddersfield and the Princess opening the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Brackenhall.

Princess Anne, who will be at the Museum from 11.30am, will go underground to visit the displays and underground classroom that have been created as part of the new Go Mining! tour.

All are part of the Museum’s recent £2.7m ‘Making Sense of Mining’ development project.
