A group of artists showcased their talents as they held their annual art exhibition at the weekend.

Outlane Art Group had around 40 pieces of work on display around Outlane Methodist Church.

The variety of images included landscapes, townscapes, animals and abstract paintings.

They had been created by the 20-strong group at their meetings throughout the year.

The day also included demonstrations and a children’s painting corner.

The group, which meet at the church, was started around four years ago by local artist Jenny Cooper.

It has since gone from strength to strength and a grant given by Kirklees Council last year enabled them to buy new tables to work on.

Members enjoy visits from guest artists and trips, including a day out painting in Slaithwaite this summer which inspired some pieces in the exhibit.

They were recently asked by the church to contribute to a piece of art as part of its upcoming Harvest Festival celebrations.

People of all abilities are welcomed and sessions are group-led with members helping and advising each other.

The group gets together fortnightly on Fridays between 9.30am and noon and there is a small charge of £3.
