Artists longing for public recognition got the chance to show their wares at the weekend.

Saturday’s craft fair gave local artists an opportunity to show and sell their work at the Packhorse Gallery, a project set up by S2R, a mental health organisation.

Would-be artists who hadn't shown their work at craft fairs before were encouraged to take part.

Around 30% of member artists have experienced mental health problems and part of the gallery's remit is to raise awareness about mental health issues.

Staff at the gallery in Huddersfield’s Packhorse Centre also act as a signposting service to help people access mental health services if they need advice.

The fair featured a range of paintings, crafts, quilted and knitted gifts, jewellery, photographs and some delicious cakes.

The range of art stretched from vintage style jewellery to striking canvases.

Future craft fairs are planned during the year with seasonal events lined up.
