More live music is coming to Mirfield on Saturday .

Following on from the success of Ska House and Propane Penny, who performed in the town centre two weeks ago, another live show is planned.

Bands will be playing outside Sowerby Brothers bike shop in Princess Street, behind the Tesco Express store.

The live session will be a taster for ‘M’FEST, Mirfield’s first ever music festival planned for Sunday May 25.

Tickets are on sale now and £10,000 must be raised in advance for the festival to go ahead.

The festival is part of the 100 days of culture leading up to the Le Grand Départ of the Tour de France, which comes to Kirklees and Calderdale on July 6.

Brighouse singer-songwriter Roger Davies tops the bill. Other bands include Alex Quinn & The Man In The Street, Blind Dead McJones Band, Emerald City Underground, Further From The Truth, Jeepster, String Villains, Twist of Fate and Young Amphibians.

Festival organiser Donal O’Driscoll said it was hoped the taster sessions would whet the appetites – and sell more tickets.

Tickets on the gate will cost £10 for adults and £5 for children but advance discounts are available.

Tickets are currently £6 and £3 but will rise to £8 and £4 from April.

If the event does not go ahead all money raised will be donated to Kirkwood Hospice.

Tickets and full details are available at www.MFEST.biz or call Kirkwood Hospice on 01484 557911.
