gardening expert, Joe Maiden, will be making a welcome return to Holme Valley tonight.

The ever popular BBC gardening presenter, who also manages his own nursery north of Leeds, will be making his sixth visit to Brockholes Village Hall.

The evening will be a chance for the audience to ask Joe’s advice on the care and growing of plants.

Joe will bring a wide range of plants to demonstrate his green-fingered skills and there will be an opportunity to purchase plants grown at his nursery.

Brockholes Village Trust chairman, David Wyles, said: “Whether you’re a keen gardener or not, Joe’s knowledge and anecdotes of a life spent in managing gardens make for a very enjoyable evening and we always have a full house so it’s best to book early.”

The evening starts at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £6, are available at Brockholes Post Office, Honley DIY & Pet Supplies or by phoning 01484 662870 or 662398.

Born in Penrith, Cumbria, Joe Maiden has been a professional gardener for over 40 years.

Best known for his no-nonsense approach, Joe has appeared on numerous gardening programmes for the BBC and Yorkshire Television.

He was awarded the Harlow Carr medal by The Royal Horticultural Society for his growing, lecturing and exhibitions of vegetables.

Joe has produced a gardening book and video called ‘Grow With Joe’.
