A TEAM of Beavers from Lepton Scouts made their mark last weekend as potential participants on the Krypton Factor by coming top in the West Yorkshire County Scouts Beaver Quiz.

A total of 12 teams from across West Yorkshire, aged from six to eight, took part in the quiz.

The team of ‘eggheads’ from Lepton had to answer a range of specialist and general knowledge questions and carry out a number of challenges based on a Wallace and Gommit theme to win the annual competition held at Bradley Wood.

Huddersfield South East Assistant District Commissioner for Beavers Martin Smith said: “We are delighted that the Lepton team have done so well. The group has only recently restarted and for the Beavers to pull together and win a county-wide competition is a sign of their commitment and dedication.

“If they can work together so well at this age, they have the potential to make a real contribution to the community as they develop.”

Joint district commissioner Ewan Scott added, “These young people are an excellent example of what can be achieved. The group at Lepton is still growing and this is a great achievement for the team.

“We look forward to the day when we have sufficient adult support to re-open the Cub and Scout sections in Lepton.”
