Girls took over the football pitch at Brighouse Juniors’ first ever girls-only football camp.
Brighouse coaches Richard Brearley and Courtney Thompson organised a day of football fun to get girls involved in football – and more than 30 girls aged eight to 15 joined the action.
England Ladies International Jessica Clarke made a guest appearance, joining in a match with the older girls then going in goals for the penalty shoot-out for the younger group.
Richard said: “All the girls were thrilled at the chance of getting up close and personal with one of England’s top players.
“At the end of the day Jess Clarke presented certificates and trophies to the girls, watched by parents and friends.
“The success of the day will give the club the momentum to increase girl participation in local football.”
Coaches from the FA Tesco skills team supported the event during the morning.
The team, led by Leeds United ladies player Emma Coates, coached the eight to 11-year-old girls in the art of keeping possession of the ball.
Richard and Rob Mitchell from Brighouse Town put the older girls through their paces in a more competitive arena.
