Members of Brighouse’s Salvation Army gave a rousing welcome to their new leader Lieutenant Claire Whybrow.

Lt Col Lyn Highton, from the Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters in Leeds, led Claire’s induction service which was attended by the Mayor of Calderdale, Clr Pat Allen.

The new lieutenant made a promise to the congregation to serve the people of Brighouse Corps and the community.

Representative from the Churches together team, the Rev Barbara Lydon from St Matthew’s Church, Rastrick, and Michelle Petch, the President of the Womens’ World day of Prayer Group in Brighouse.

The new lieutenant’s first Bible address touched on the theme of grace, love and hope.

Gillian Greetham, the Corps press officer, said: “Exciting times lie ahead in this new chapter of the Brighouse Salvation Army.”
