A street cleaner has been thanked for his dedication in keeping town centre streets clean.

Calderdale Council employee Eamon McNamara was presented with an award by the Brighouse Business Initiative for all his hard work in keeping the streets of Brighouse litter free.

The BBI, a group of retailers from Brighouse Town Centre, wanted to thank Eamon.

Lesley Adams, of the BBI said: “We just wanted to show Eamon how much we appreciate all the hard work he puts in to keeping the streets of Brighouse clean.

“It makes such a difference when visitors come into Brighouse and see the town centre clean and tidy.

“He is always cheerful and always goes that extra mile.

“Whenever we hold events and festivals in Brighouse he helps to make sure we have extra bags so we can clear the extra rubbish away.

“You only ever seem to hear about people complaining about councils but on this occasion we wanted to say what a great job Eamon does.”

The award was kindly donated by BBI members, M & A Locksmiths, and was presented by Lesley Adams and John Buxton from the Brighouse Business Initiative.
