IT’S sickening to think that thieves have stolen money that was going to celebrate the life of a Huddersfield soldier killed in Afghanistan.

That is heartless enough, but this crime also shows that burglars have absolutely no conscience at all.

They may or may not have known that money was going to be used to create a memorial for Pte Anton Frampton from Longwood, but they did know they were breaking into a nursery.

They cared not one jot about the damage and disruption they caused as they stole the cash, a computer, three laptops and two digital cameras.

It meant Nightingale nursery in Oakes had to close for crime scene investigation yesterday, causing disruption to 50 parents of youngsters who attend the nursery.

And that is before all the emotional turmoil caused by the break-in.

This shows such offences are far from victimless crimes.

These offenders have disrupted the lives of dozens of people, causing both misery and heartache.

If you know who they are why not give Crimestoppers a call on 0800 555 111.

Let’s hope the thieves are caught and brought to justice so we can all know exactly who would commit such a crime.
