TWO fitness enthusiasts have re-kindled their childhood friendship, winning prizes in the process.
Former Shelley High School pupils, Michael Mallinson and Simon Good hadn’t seen each other since they were 16-years-old.
Twenty-five-years on they bumped into each other at a Leeds gym.
They quickly resumed their friendship – and vowed to train together.
Just eight months on, their efforts have propelled them to glory at a fitness contest.
Michael from Highburton and Simon from Kirkburton both finished in the top three at the Leeds CrossFit Masters Competition in the 40 and above category.
Michael came first and Simon finished third.
CrossFit is a test of overall strength and fitness and the competition tested entrants over four separate workouts.
These included weight lifting, pull ups, rowing, running, box jumps, burpees and prowler pushes.
The duo have now both qualified for the prestigious Central Manchester CrossFit Games, which will be held in July.
