CYCLING enthusiasts are gearing up for a mammoth charity challenge.

More than 170 cyclists have signed up to take part in a 260 mile bike ride from Huddersfield to Brighton in April.

The journey, from the Galpharm Stadium to Brighton’s Withdean Stadium, will take four days to complete.

Huddersfield Town officials and fans will arrive in time to see the League I fixture between the Terriers and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Amongst those preparing for the challenge are five Halifax-based cyclists.

Graeme Turner, Paul Collins, Katie Collinson, Richard Blackburn and John Marshall are all undertaking a strict training regime to prepare for the bike ride. They will be aiming to raise as much cash as possible for the Pedal for Pounds fundraiser.

The Calderdale-based cyclists will join the likes of Town chairman Dean Hoyle and Andy Booth. Money raised from the event will go to the Keep It Up campaign to help both Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Town’s Academy.
