THERE was a full church for the harvest festival at All Hallows’ Church, Almondbury on at Sunday morning.

Members of the Youth Zone took an active part, reading the Gospel story and leading intercessory prayers.

At their meeting on the previous Friday they had been busy with a different contribution. Before Le Tour de Yorkshire they had made a Willow Lady cyclist which, after her foray in St Peter’s Garden , is now kept at All Hallows’. She was displayed at the west end of church (see photo right) .

The congregation brought harvest gifts. The dry goods were taken to the Welcome Centre the following day. The congregation went into the church hall where the fresh produce was auctioned and the money raised sent to Christian African Relief Trust to help pay shipment costs when containers of good are sent to Africa.

After the auction everyone enjoyed harvest supper and sing-along with WW1 songs included in the songs.

On Monday, October 13, members of All Hallows’ and the Methodist church met again at 7.15pm to plan the exhibition to commemorate the Great War to be held in All Hallows’ the weekend before Remembrance Sunday.

Contributions of memorabilia and help with the exhibition are welcome.
