Youngsters at Spring Grove Juniors enjoyed French lessons with a difference.

Instead of normal teachers, they were taught by language leaders – themselves all pupils from Salendine Nook High School.

The six Year 9 language leaders had put much time and effort into preparing their lessons and resources before their visit to Spring Grove.

Before the lessons, the Year 5 Spring Grove pupils gave their new teachers a tour of the school.

The French sessions covered numbers, colours and body parts and involved learning through a variety of exercises, including games and songs.

One Spring Grove pupil summed up the feeling of his classmates when he said: "It was fantastique!"

Salendine Nook teacher Claire Barker said: "The language leaders were a real credit to Salendine Nook High School and I am very proud of them.

"They were very enthusiastic and worked hard to deliver exciting and engaging lessons, resulting in a rewarding and enjoyable afternoon for all involved.

"I hope that we will be able to do a similar venture in the near future as all the pupils got so much out of it..
