Memorial village walk

EMLEY: For around 10 years Richard Daley served Emley as chairman of its neighbourhood watch. Now the community is set to give something back by completing an annual 10kfundraising walk in his memory. Mr Daley, 68, died from cancer in May last year in Kirkwood Hospice. Following his death around 40 members of Emley and Emley Moor Neighbourhood Watch arranged a memorial walk in his name and raised more than £2,000 for the two causes close to his heart – the hospice and neighbourhood watch. Now villagers are set to repeat their efforts, this year in aid of Kirkwood Hospice, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Watch, and are inviting others to take part . The walk will take place on Sunday, June 17, from The White Horse in Emley at 10am. Sponsored walkers should assemble by 9.45am.
