“BYPASS at last” (Examiner Feb 6). Hope springs eternal! But, having read your article I was left feeling more than a little disappointed. Clr Murphy states “the bypass would have two lanes and be a maximum of two miles long”.

This constitutes a cheap fudge of a plan that will do nothing to alleviate traffic problems outside the confines of Flockton village. We all know that what this part of West Yorkshire screams out for is a motorway link between the M1 and M62. The resulting loss of farmland is unfortunate, but the reality is that our economy is wholly dependant on efficient road transport. Our planners, councillors and highways chiefs would do well to remember this fact.
