SO it was a weekend to remember after all with Huddersfield Town now a Championship side.

And both the team and the fans deserved the victory. Even Sheffield United fans leaving Wembley admitted that Town were the better team and the Huddersfield fans completely out-sang their South Yorkshire rivals.

Perhaps the frustration and crushing disappointment of last year’s play-off final defeat at Old Trafford has made Saturday’s victory all the more sweeter.

Today is a day of celebration in glorious weather so the weekend will roll into three days.

The Town players will be in an open top bus from the Galpharm Stadium to Huddersfield Town Hall for a well-deserved civic reception at around teatime.

They’ve done us proud so let’s hope we do them proud this afternoon by turning up in our thousands to show just how much it means to the town as a whole.

We’ve not only moved up a division in footballing terms.

This success will move Huddersfield up a division in terms of UK towns with a national profile.
