Children opened a charity ball in style with a spectacular Bollywood dancing performance.

A total of 30 six and seven-year-olds from Lindley Infant School took to the stage, performing five routines in front of 300 guests at the Bollywood Ball.

The event was staged at Ashiq’s Grand Banqueting Suite in Ravensthorpe.

Led by deputy headteacher Antonia McGoverin, the children showcased their dance talents and were cheered on by families and staff.

Mrs McGoverin said: “The school staff and parents were extremely proud of the children’s courage, exemplary behaviour, hard work and concentration in the weeks preceding and on the night of the event.

“It was a pleasure and a privilege to represent the school in the local community with these children.”

The evening raised just over £5,000 for the Dewsbury-based division of HCPT The Pilgrimage Trust.

The charity offers pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in the south of France to disabled and disadvantaged people from around the UK and further afield.

During this time they explore the sacred shrine and visit the Pyrenees and seaside.

The money raised helps the group to fully cover the cost of £750 per child.

The school community celebrated the children’s achievements with a performance for other children in the school and parents during interfaith week.
