THEY did more than try.

Children from across Huddersfield took part in activity camps at the DRAM centre, Rawthorpe.

Hosted by Huddersfield Community Trust, the group of eight to 12-year-olds took part in multiple Rugby League core skill activities and played touch rugby.

With fitness-related sessions provided by the Shokk Gym Staff, the children also completed vigorous circuit training.

Development officer Danny Scott said: “The event, generously funded by Kirklees Council, meant we could offer the sessions free to participants in a local community environment. The camp participants definitely got a lot out of the sessions through fitness and core skills.

“Many of the children play in Huddersfield at community clubs so hopefully the skills learned will help them and their clubs in the future.”

The next free activity camp for eight-12 year olds will be run at Huddersfield New College tomorrow from 10am to 3pm.
