ALL ABOARD ..!

WANNABE Fat Controllers are being invited to go along and help run the railway... albeit a slightly smaller one.

Clayton West-based steam train attraction, Kirklees Light Railway (KLR), pictured above, is hosting volunteer open days in a bid to boost its support group.

Manager, Richard Shaw, said: “We are reliant on a strong volunteer group known as the ‘Friends Of The KLR’ without whom the railway would not operate. We are always looking for new volunteers to come and join in helping to the run the railway in all areas. This event will give potential new volunteers a chance to see what the railway has to offer and the types of roles undertaken. There will be a number of practical demonstrations throughout the day to provide a hands-on approach to the day, as well as opportunities to speak with existing volunteers about their time at the railway.”

The events are between 11am and 3pm this Saturday and Sunday. Participants must be over 16-years-old. Kirklees Light Railway is at Park Mill Way, Clayton West. Tel: 01484 865727.
