Move over Chelsea...a village care home has won a national prize for its garden.

Aden Lodge Care Home at Clayton West has been named regional and overall winner for its garden in the national competition run by parent company, New Century Care, for all of its 27 care homes in the UK.

Working to individual abilities, staff ensured all residents were able to be involved, whether potting seeds, doing some light weeding or just casting an expert eye over proceedings.

Family and friends were also encouraged to join in, providing a fantastic opportunity for some real interaction.

Kyron Smith, General Manager at Aden Lodge, said: “It has been great to see our residents really getting involved and working together for the competition.

“Gardening is so rewarding on every level – it’s great for general health, it’s stimulating both physically and mentally and the result has been a wonderful garden that we can all enjoy.

“We’re over the moon to have won – it’s a real achievement for everyone at Aden Lodge and it was a true honour collecting the award on behalf of all those who put in so much hard work.”
