Youngsters in Kirklees are set to benefit from a several thousand pound charity boost, thanks to a donation by an emergency service equipment company.
Cleckheaton manufacturer, Ferno, donated £3,000 to the Huddersfield Town Foundation, which works to improve the quality of life for young people across Huddersfield and West Yorkshire.
Employees, who donated £4,000 to the charity last year, recently visited children at Ashbrow School to see how their money had helped fund 14 school breakfast clubs, which have so far provided 100,000 nutritious breakfasts.
Ferno’s Managing Director, Jon Ellis, said: “At Ferno we are very proud to be able to support our local community and are very pleased to be able to help in whatever way we can. We hope this initiative will grow our partnership with the Town Foundation in the future.”
The Foundation has gained support from businesses and organisations since its launch in July 2012. Schools where the breakfast clubs take place have reported that pupil attendance has soared, behaviour and learning has improved and social skills have developed.
