A BIG charity ‘Fun Day’ will be held in Meltham next month.

A group of supporters is organising the event in aid of The Starlight Children’s Foundation, at Meltham Conservative Club, on Saturday September 6.

The all-day event is to raise funds for Starlight – which grants wishes and provides hospital entertainment for critically and terminally ill children

It starts at 12noon and goes on ‘’til late’ and will feature a concert headlined by popular local Indie band Red Star – who have generously agreed to perform for free to support the charity and give a ‘busking session’ to collect extra cash.

The entertainment will also include a sponsored Jailbreak, a kids’ talent show and in the evening there will be a ‘Race Night’ for adults.

Organisers Adele Luty and Tracy Williams, are hoping for a packed house for all the events.

Adele said: “The Starlight Foundation wrote to the club asking if we could help them. It is a worthy cause, we all have kids and so we came up with the Fun Day.

“It was great of the band to offer to play for nothing, they have a big local following,” Adele added.
