A popular community choir sung its support for a cancer charity when it raised hundreds of pounds.

Golcar’s Just Sing choir gained £500 in donations for the Yorkshire Cancer Centre, which provides specialist medical equipment, research and development and patient ‘home comforts’ at St James’s Institute of Oncology in Leeds.

It is the latest boon for the group, which has also raised £1,500 for other charities, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, Terence Higgins Bone Marrow charity and Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, since it formed four years ago.

The group is still looking for new members to join the ranks to help them raise even more money and make new friends, whilst highlighting their hidden musical talents to the community.

The Just Sing choir meets once a week in St John’s Church Community Room in Golcar on Thursdays from 7.30 to 8.30pm and sing everything from Mozart to Mamma Mia.
