They met at a Co-op dance just after the war.

Now Longwood couple Frank and Edna Firth have celebrated 65 years of marriage.

The Queen sends congratulatory messages for Diamond (60th), 65th and Platinum (70th) wedding anniversaries, and every year thereafter.

Frank and Edna first cast eyes on each other in 1947 and a year later they married at Huddersfield Register Office.

Frank, who hails from Brighouse, spent most of his career working in textiles.

He was at Ben Hall and Sons at Milnsbridge for 38 years until its closure in 1977.

After a brief move to a wire works he went back to textiles before his retirement.

Edna, who is originally from Milnsbridge, enjoyed a 17 year career as a laboratory assistant at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The couple, who are both 85, have two daughters, Ann and Eileen, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
