A group dedicated to improving rural railway stations is looking to improve Penistone station and is urging volunteers to join them.

Over the past few years the Penistone Line Partnership have been busy working with the Denby Dale and district Rotary Club, to improve both Stocksmoor and Denby Dale Stations.

Now they are moving on to look at Penistone Station.

Northern Rail, which manages the station and the Penistone Line Partnership, has been in talks with the local Artisan Fayre group in Penistone, which plans to install a mosaic at the station initially and then move on to a bigger project there.

Penistone Station is considerably larger than the other stations the group has been improving recently and the partnership is looking for more local people to get involved.

Anyone interested can go to an initial meeting at The Penistone Paramount on Wednesday November 13 at 1.15pm.
