SPARE a thought today for Huddersfield publican Sue Greenwood.

She has taken on a village pub at a time when countless other licensed premises are going to the wall and closing down.

But she has found herself the victim of an administrative, bureaucratic error that has cost her dearly.

Mrs Greenwood’s efforts to run The Sun Inn in Flockton have been thwarted by power giant NPower, who cut off her electricity supply because of an unpaid bill from a previous customer.

No-one disputes that the power company should be entitled to try and get back the money they are owed but to force a business to close when they are blameless is surely in nobody’s interests.

NPower have promised to restore supplies today or tomorrow but one hopes their actions have not had a lasting impact on a staple of village life.
