Community organisations brought Christmas early to Slaithwaite care home residents.

Dozens of businesses and sports teams donated goods and vouchers to Meadow Court in Meal Hill Lane for their festive raffle.

And both staff and residents walked home with big prizes, when the draw was held.

This included a meal at the Golden Cock in Farnley Tyas, tickets to a Huddersfield Town match and a rugby ball signed by Danny Brough.

One of the owners of the care home, Stacey Humble, said: “It was a lovely occasion and we are very thankful to everyone who donated prizes and brought some sparkle to the raffle.

“The money raised through selling tickets has been put into the residents’ social fund and we’ve already bought a projector so that residents can watch films on a big screen.”
