BROCKHOLES

Parish communion at St George's Church, Brockholes, was celebrated by the Rev Jenny Barnes, who spoke about Amazing Grace. Roger Kenworthy read the lesson and Rosalind Watt was the server. Verena Wood was organist.

HEPWORTH

The monthly meeting of the Mothers' Union was held last week when Gloria Styring chaired the meeting. The guest speakers were Christine and Peter Lockwood who gave an illustrated talk about Arctic Norway.

More than one hundred breakfasts were served at The Big Breakfast in the village hall on Saturday morning. Organised by members of Hepworth Church, the catering staff were kept very busy, serving up the freshly cooked to order full English breakfasts. With cereals, toast and endless cups of tea and coffee, along with the morning's newspapers, it was a great start to the weekend.

Parish Eucharist at Holy Trinity Church on Sunday morning was led by the Rev Di Ellerton. The reader was Joan Warrender and prayers, to the accompaniment of organ music by Jane Robertson, were led by Stella Southam. Refreshments were served after the service by Sheila Schofield and Joan Howarth.

HOLMBRIDGE

Midweek holy communion at St David's Church, Holmbridge, was conducted by the Rev Nick Heaton. Lessons were read by Ian Gold. Monkey Business, the Free Lunch and Over 60s Club were held. Friday evening prayers were led by Ian Gold.

Parish Eucharist on Sunday at St David's Church was led by the Rev Geoff Bamford. During the service, he baptised Alice Kingdom. Lessons were read by Kathryn Kingdom and the chalice was administered by Ian Gold. The organist was Jean Chadwick.

UPPERTHONG

The Upperthong Tuesday Prayer Breakfast was last week held at the home of the Dawsons. In the afternoon, Messy Church was held when the theme was Hallowe'en. There were a large number of children who enjoyed the activities, which culminated in a light tea.

Holy communion last Thursday at St John's Church was led by the Rev John Barnes, who was also the celebrant. A faith lunch followed in the meeting room. Family communion at St John’s Church included prayers for healing. It was led by Val Shuttleworth and the Rev Di Ellerton. The readers were John Ellerton and Tim Cock. Les Hopkins led prayers and Pat Hopkins administered the sacrament. The organist was Ian Greenhalgh. Refreshments were served afterwards by Carol Brown.

WOOLDALE

Morning worship at Wooldale Methodist Church was led by Kath Beetlestone. The organist was Nigel Morris. Refreshments were served afterwards.
