WILSHAW

A harvest festival took place at St Mary’s church on Sunday, October 6. A good congregation heard about God’s generosity and how we should be thankful for all his gifts to us. The Rev Judy Kenworthy led the service and blessed the harvest gifts that were offered. Hilary Livingstone read Psalm 118, Louise Brook read the gospel and Liz Pearson was the organist. The music group accompanied some of the hymns and Georgie, Lottie, Harry, Martha, Abbie-Leigh and Bethany led our prayers and helped the Rev Judy to do her shopping. One shopping basket was very full but the second basket had just one small packet of rice. This reminded us that not everyone enjoys a good harvest or has enough to eat. Gifts of fruit and veg will be delivered around the village and tinned and dried goods will be given to the Immediate Needs charity in Huddersfield.
