Camcare Daycare Ltd, which ran the Flowers Hall care home in Kirkheaton, has appointed Halifax-based Begbies Traynor to wind up the company.

The home closed last month after the last residents moved out.

Staff were made redundant but did not receive wages or other payments due.

They must now claim the money from the Government’s Redundancy Payments Service.

One of those claiming will be Barbara Atkinson, 76, of Newsome, who won an employment tribunal claim against the home for non-payment of almost £1,300 in wages dating back to October.

Camcare Daycare Ltd director Damian Matthews said one of the reasons for closure was a dispute over a lease on the home’s historic Lascelles Hall building in Lascelles Hall Road.

In a statement, insolvency firm Begbies Traynor confirmed the company had been formally placed into liquidation at a creditors’ meeting last week, attended by five people.

The statement added: “The appointed liquidators, Peter Sargent and Julian Pitts, will now undertake an investigation into the affairs of the company and deal with the claims of the employees and other creditors.

“It is anticipated that the majority of amounts due to employees will be satisfied by the Government’s Redundancy Payment Service.”
