DALTON: Jan 1. Elderly female victim answered door to suspect who said she had been in an accident and could she borrow the phone. Victim refused and said she was not welcome at house. Suspect then pushed her way into the house and stole cash. Woman later arrested.

Thief went into building through communal front door, then sneaked into flat through unlocked front door and stole cash.

The Zetland, Queensgate. Jan 1. Sneak thief dipped into unzipped bag and stole iphone.

Jan 1. The Varsity, Zetland Street. Male who struck out smashing window detained by doorstaff and arrested.

T K Maxx, Kingsgate Centre. Jan 2. Shopper had her handbag stolen while looking at shoes.

St George’s Street. Two suspects pinned victim against wall and demanded property. Victim refused and was assaulted and robbed of wallet and iphone. Suspect description: two black males aged approximately 20, about 6ft tall and dressed in dark clothing.

Herberts Bar, Cross Church Street. Jan 2. Mobile phone stolen from table in pub.

Dixy Fried Chicken, Cross Church Street. Jan 3. Mobile phone inadvertently left at takeaway stolen. Phone tracked to house where police found it in suspect’s jacket pocket. Two suspects arrested.

Fitzwilliam Street. Jan 3. Raider smashed nearside front vehicle window. Glovebox searched but nothing stolen.

F Hinds Jewellers, Kingsgate Centre Jan 3. Keys taken from handbag and used to steal VW Fox from shopping centre car park. Vehicle later found burnt out. Arrests made.

Fitzwilliam Street. Jan 4. Victim parked car on road side outside his house then left keys in car with the door unlocked as he quickly walked into his house. While inside vehicle stolen – blue Fiesta T903FUG.

Jan 5. St John’s Road. Thief smashed windscreen and rear nearside window to get into vehicle and steal two bicycles.

Bodycare, Princess Alexandra Walk. Jan 5. Thief dipped into handbag to steal shopper’s purse.

McDonalds, Kirkgate. Jan 5. Suspect threw glass bottle which smashed large window. Area searched and suspect arrested in town centre.
