Our Local Priorities in your Neighbourhood are: Kirkburton: Cutting indiscriminate parking in the North Road, Hallas Road and Riley Lane areas and preventing speeding traffic by enforcing legislation in the Butts Road area of Farnley Tyas.

VANDALS STRIKE: Vandals have attacked Kirkburton Scout Hut, in Hallas Road, daubing it with graffiti. It is the third time the hut has been vandalised recently. The graffiti reads: "Art iz now a crime". Art is not a crime – but criminal damage is! The Scouts and Guides are organisations run by volunteers and what little funding they have is spent on activities for the children. They do not have the means to keep removing damage from their property. If you have any information about this damage or the 'artist' involved, please contact us at Kirkburton Police Station on 01484 436898 or contact Crimestoppers (See panel below). Anyone with information about an incident at Storthes Hall campus on March 4, where four vehicles and a door were damaged and a person assaulted, please contact Pc Nelson at Kirkburton Police Station.

LOW CRIME AREA: The media is currently highlighting the prospect of increased risk of burglaries with the increasing economic downturn. The Home Office website www.homeoffice.gov.uk is promoting crime prevention and by going onto the website you can access various figures and downloads on security advice.

JOIN THE WATCH: If you are interested in joining/setting up a neighbourhood watch in your area to help reduce crime and nuisance problems in your area, speak to or email police liaison officer Dave Whitteron (see panel below). Neighbourhood Watch brings your district into close contact with the local police as a joint crime fighting team. You will be given lots of crime prevention advice, tips on looking on for each other, and valuable information about crime in the area.
