THEFTLead flashing thefts are on the rise again. There was one incident this week at Hinchcliffe Mills where lead was stolen. There are a number of ways you can prevent or make it harder for thieves to steal and sell the lead. This is by using a special paint which makes the smelting of the lead more difficult and therefore less attractive to scrapyards who might otherwise take the lead in. This paint can be bought at any good local DIY business.

BURGLARY Thieves tried to force off the handle of a upvc door of a house on Thorpe Green Drive, Golcar, but were unsuccessful. Similar attempts were made on a houses in Celandine Avenue and on Centuria Walk, Salendine Nook, but again the thieves did not get inside.

VEHICLE CRIMEFive vehicles had their tyres slashed with what appears to be a screwdriver. These attacks were at Titanic Mills and Hoyle Ing, Linthwaite. All the offences were overnight and they appear to be completely random attacks. Police will be stepping up patrols in the area and making follow up inquiries into who is responsible. If anyone has any information as to who it could be please contact us at the Valleys NPT tel 01484 436855. A Yamaha motorbike registration number X 861 AHE was stolen overnight from Royd Street. Thieves cut the chain that was securing the bike. A Subaru Imprezza was stolen from a house on Lower Wellhouse, after thieves forced off the lock from a upvc door.
