Cyclists take on new section of bike trail

Trans-pennine trail ride from Shelley

Cyclists' Touring Club members led the Shelley and Beyond bike ride on a new section of the Trans-Pennine Trail

Cyclists broke in a new branch of the Trans-Pennine Trail near Shelley.

Huddersfield and District Cyclists’ Touring Club (CTC) organised a ride for families and novice riders as part of the countdown to the Tour De France.

The event, dubbed the Shelley and Beyond Bike Ride, was a thrilling and muddy off-road experience for all that took part.

The route went from Box Ings at Kirkburton, to Shepley and on to Denby Dale using the trail path all of the way.

Members of the CTC could not have been kinder to the novice riders making sure it was a safe yet challenging ride.

Thanks especially to group leader Ken Roberts of Kirkburton, and to marshals Richard Burnham, John Priestman and Janet Metcalfe from Shelley Community Association.
