CONSULTATION on plans to merge two Ashbrow Schools to cater for three to 11-year-olds has now closed.

Ashbrow Infant and Nursery School and Ashbrow Junior School share the same site but are currently run separately.

Now Kirklees Council is set to determine whether the schools, which are already federated, should be merged.

Ashbrow councillor Cath Harris said she had been overwhelmed by the number of responses received from parents.

She believes the recent joint work done by the two schools can only be improved if a merger takes place.

If given the go ahead there would some changes to the senior management of both schools but the same number of children and the same number of classes.

The proposal is due to be discussed at Kirklees Council Cabinet today (May 22).
