After months of planning and hours making costumes Deighton Carnival is almost upon us once more.

Organisers are pulling out all the stops in conjunction with their partners to make this year’s Enchanted Deighton Carnival the biggest yet.

Activities at the Deighton Centre will start from 9.30am on Saturday (June 29) with sports to try and culminate in a football tournament.

The carnival court will set off at 1pm with DJ Bung on the first float getting the crowds going.

The colourful and vibrant procession will then tour the Deighton ward, taking in Wigan Lane, Bradley Boulevard, Ashbrow Road, Woodhouse Hill, Riddings Road and back to Deighton.

Local schools were involved in creating their costumes at special workshops hosted by Carol Ward (who was featured in last week’s North Huddersfield Neighbourhood News) for her fantastic efforts.
