THE flight bringing my daughter and two grandsons was scheduled to leave Belfast International at 7.45pm and arrive at Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 8.30pm.

I arrived at eight and was looking forward to a leisurely cappuccino before driving back home.

But what was this? The arrival board said the flight had just landed. Was this the quickest flight ever across the Irish Sea?

It must have been one heck of a tail wind. EasyJet had surpassed themselves this time.

Like any airline, they get their passengers on board as soon as possible, especially when there are not that many, and this flight was half empty.

So the EasyJet crew managed to grab an earlier take off slot and arrived almost before they left. If you see what I mean.
