OUR area dug deep for the annual staging of the Children in Need appeal yesterday.

In Huddersfield and its surrounding districts schools, businesses and locals came up with ideas to raise cash for the charity appeal while having a laugh at the same time.

It’s not every day that the office chatterbox keeps silent or you can walk into an office and see staff dressed in pyjamas.

But on days like Children in Need anything goes.

The aim was laudable – to raise money for disadvantaged young people in the UK.

As ever, we went charity crazy with sponsored head shaves and the like being the order of the day.

Everyone involved has done an absolutely marvellous job in raising such a lot of money.

Last year’s appeal netted £33m – this year’s total will not be known for a while.

But whatever the final sum, it will make a great deal of difference to lives.
