MY disabled in-laws – 91 and blind and 88 and frail, confused and arthritic – have, I feel, been sublimely bullied into having a wheelie bin.

They are on the assisted bin-emptying list. In December their bin was not emptied for well over a month. The worry of this – and it is a worry with the “old school” who expect things to be done right – was, we feel, a contributory factor to him having a heart attack and spending five days in hospital.

Today, despite a very visible, very polite notice tied to the gate “ASSISTED BIN EMPTY PLEASE’’ their bin has again been left unemptied. But the binmen have been up to it and secured an empty black bag to the handle!

I hate being “bullied” like this but cannot afford the risk of him having another heart attack. So well done South Crosland team; you have deleted another address from the assisted bin list (do you get a bonus for this?).
