TODDLERS at an Elland nursery donned police hats to learn more about the work of officers.

The children at Water’s Edge Day Nursery in Elland welcomed Pcs Andrea Sagar and Stuart Trudgehill from the Brighouse Neighbourhood Policing Team.

They spoke to the nursery children about their job and things they do as police officers.

Joanne Bradbury-Wood, owner of the Park Road nurser, said: “The children are learning all about occupations this term so we thought it would be a great idea to invite our local police officers in to talk about their jobs.

“It was an excellent visit and the children had lots of fun trying on police uniforms, sitting inside the police van and learning about the role of the police.

“We know how busy the police are so we’re really grateful to Pcs Sagar and Trudgehill for taking the time to come and speak to us. They were fantastic.”

The Water’s Edge Children’s Day Nursery opened in 2001 and is Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’. It is part of a wider complex, which includes Edge Play Gym and Cafe.
